Hello fellow Drifters! Erica here, and I’m thrilled to share my family’s latest road trip adventure from sunny Florida all the way to the heart of Indiana. It was a trip filled with scenic sights, fun surprises, and lots of meaningful moments. So, buckle up—let’s hit the road!
Florida to Indiana: The Journey Begins
Leaving Florida wasn’t easy, but the excitement of exploring new places kept us energized. We took our time, stopping at interesting spots along the way, making it a true family adventure.
Spring Mill State Park: A Step Back in Time
One of the highlights was our visit to Spring Mill State Park in Indiana. It’s a beautifully preserved historical site where we explored old mill buildings, learned about pioneer life, and enjoyed a peaceful hike through lush trails. The kids loved pretending to be pioneers, and we all enjoyed the serene views of the ghost town and the mill pond.
Big Red Soda and the Charm of Small Towns
No road trip is complete without a refreshing drink, and we definitely found that with a visit to an old-fashioned soda fountain. We cooled off with a Big Red soda—sweet, bubbly, and perfectly nostalgic. It’s the kind of treat that instantly transports you back in time.
Lighting Bugs and Nighttime Magic
As the sun set, the night came alive with flickering fireflies. Watching the lightning bugs dance in the evening air was absolutely magical—a quintessential summer experience I cherish, especially sharing it with my family.
A Taste of Amish Hospitality
During our journey, we stopped at a local Amish shop where we picked up handmade baskets—beautifully crafted and perfect for storing all our travel goodies. The craftsmanship was truly impressive, and the kids loved picking out their favorites.
Apple Butter and Local Flavors
Our culinary adventures took us to Appleacres, a charming farm stand known for its apple butter. We couldn’t resist snagging a jar or two—sweet, rich, and full of fall flavor. It made a fantastic breakfast spread at our next stop!
Wrapping Up the Trip
As we headed back home to Florida, we carried with us not just souvenirs but memories of family, discovery, and the simple joys of travel. It was a trip full of storytelling, nature’s beauty, and heartfelt moments.
Thanks for Traveling with Us!
That’s a peek into our Indiana adventure! Whether you’re planning a family road trip or just dreaming of a scenic escape, I hope this inspires your next journey. Until then, keep drifting and exploring—there’s always a new story around the corner.
Happy drifting, everyone!
